Exxon's former CEO is now our secretary of state. So, there's that.

Exxon's former CEO is now US Secretary of State and in charge of US international climate negotiations From the article: Yes, you read that correctly: The former head of one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world will now spearhead America's approach to mitigating the effects of climate change. Exxon is currently under investigation by several state attorneys general and the Securities and Exchange Commission for researching climate science since the 1970s, and then paying millions to convince the public that the science linking fossil fuel burning to global warming was uncertain. You cannot make a more emphatic statement than that as to where a country's priorities lie with regards to climate change and green energy. So basically what this could mean for the USA, is that their emphasis as a country on green technology could start taking a back seat, and allow the Chinese and the Europeans to get a firm foothold on the green tech market. China and Europe are being driven largely by the pollution experienced in their major cities. What I think China and Europe will anyway get right, is producing smaller lower cost electric vehicles, as well as moving more and more of their grid power generation to renewable energy, which in turn will lessen their dependencies on US and Middle East oil. Which is all fine as you get what the majority asks for. The metric based world will move on to renewable energy so long.... See http://ift.tt/2kXgTdB
