What to do when you accidentally post a photo of your private parts online

What to do when you accidentally post a photo of your private parts online Margaret van Wyk made headlines recently when she allegedly posted a picture of her vagina, intended for her husband, on a hockey mothers’ WhatsApp group. One of the group members reportedly took a screenshot of the image and posted it on social media. The article linked below does a pretty good job of explaining the legal liability of someone who reshares the photo from a private group, and the best advice is always to not transmit anything like that online in the first place. But the fact that this happened in a conservative area of South Africa just goes to show that it is fact does happen a lot more than the rest of the world sees. These finger problems usually occur when you have a conversation with someone, and other groups become active with messages, and you still select the group / person at the top of the screen to send to. I have done this myself when sending my driving directions to my wife (more than once). So the moral of the story for those who really want to send photos or any other sensitive data online, is to follow this advice: 1. Use a service that is end-to-end encrypted and allows remote deletion of the conversation like "Wire - Private Messenger" or "Ansa", "Strings", or even "Telegram" with Secret Chat enabled. Remember even Snapchat messages don't quite disappear - for more see http://ift.tt/1BWpDHg. 2. Consider using one messaging service just for your sensitive communications as there is less chance of finger problems sending to an incorrect recipient. 3. Don't trust any centrally stored cloud service unless you encrypt anything before storing it, or unless you manage the service yourself and have encrypted it (ownCloud type service). 4. Don't be lazy and just use what you always use.... See http://ift.tt/2bXCjnc http://bit.ly/2bnLJHk
