I’ve cautioned before about just jumping in and starting to use passkeys by Apple, Google, etc as there is a good chance then that you will have to continue using their ecosystem to have access to those passkeys.
It is far better to wait for the likes of 1Password, Bitwarden, etc where you can access them from multiple devices and platforms, and be able to leave one ecosystem for another. I have well over 700 unique passwords and cannot imagine, after having moved everything to passkeys say on my Apple device, that I decide to move to Android instead. You can see now why Apple or Google would want to lock you into using their passkeys.
So just wait until at least 2023 as passwords are not going to be phased out suddenly.
