EV Battery prices have fallen 88 percent over the last decade and sales volumes as well as research has been increasing indicating a continuing trend

Like most high-tech goods, batteries tend to get cheaper as they are manufactured at higher volumes. As the world builds more and more electric cars, grid storage installations, and other battery-based systems, higher volumes will drive prices lower and lower.

Yes waste also increases but EV batteries do last a good 8 to 10 years and are finding a second life in static grid storage scenarios already. The better news is that innovative research is starting to gain ground around better materials to make them not only cheaper, but also safer for collisions and disposal. Much of this may only start to be felt in the coming few years as supply chains take a while to adapt. The world is also starting to adjust to renewable energy solar panels and wind turbines will be requiring higher volumes of refurbishment and recycling. As these are not hazardous in the same way as nuclear waste, there is space for many new companies to get involved in both these activities.
