See What the World’s Reading Habits Look Like in 2020 - An uptick in digital books was seen and some other fascinating facts in this infographic

The editing and proofreading service Global English Editing gathered these statistics from various sources, including Pew Research and Amazon's bestsellers page. It found 35 percent of web users worldwide reported reading more during the pandemic, and 14 percent said they read significantly more. This trend was most dramatic in China, where 44 percent of respondents said they increased their reading time due to the coronavirus.

Reading overall definitely increased as a result of lockdowns, and especially so for digital books which were easily accessible. Some other interesting facts emerged too around a correlation between education levels and reading of news, a scary fact that for one1st World Country 27% of their adults reported not reading a book in the past year, the average age of those reading romance novels is 42 years (mid-life?), and lots more.
