It's really sad to see how much we pay for higher end phones (as much as the cost of a laptop computer) only to receive important OS updates and patches for a relatively short period. The phones often last many years past this date, and Pixel's still receive updates longer than many other makes of phones.
I've seen LineageOS still delivering the very latest bleeding edge version of Android for older phones so if you intend to use your phone for longer you want to be sure what you buy is compatible with LineageOS and similar custom ROMs.
