I'm currently reading Peter F. Hamilton's "Fallen Dragon" (not one of the books but is set in 25th Century) and some technology just grates on me as I know in that future we very likely won't have cash, trams, or combustion engined vehicles).
On the other hand I did read “The Machine Stops” (one of the listed books dating from 1909) and thoroughly enjoyed it as the author really hits the nail on the head, even though the terminology and technology was completely unknown at the time of writing.
