Working from home permanently could damage your mental health says Microsoft CEO - I say 'and so do open-plan offices'

I get the point about social chit-chat before and after meetings (which is why Zoom included multiple breakout rooms?) and maybe Microsoft does not have the software yet to replicate the social side... Seriously though I found open-plan offices a major distraction and more so when I had urgent deadlines to meet. I used to long to just go home and get the job done in half the time.

People are not all the same and that is the point... why must we force people to work in an office who do not want to? Lockdown has really shown me also those employees and managers who could adapt and overcome versus those who really just could not. It is also especially revealing in tech companies where you begin to see many people who are clearly not comfortable with managing a remote meeting or even getting their own computer to work. Yet their company has the vision to be 'the leading global XYZ'. We talk 4IR but many of us are trying to adapt to 3IR.
