Charter Communications - 'Charter argued that even employees whose jobs can be done remotely should still come to the office' and one engineer has resigned

Even though there are states of national disaster declared what is coming to the fore now is how many managers there are who are really stuck in a 20 decades old mindset. There are many jobs that are perfectly suited to remote working with 100% (or more) productivity - we have video conferencing that is merely a click of a link without any account registration needed. It means that at least some workers can work from home - reducing risks at work. Often these are also your more skilled workers who you really do not want to get sick or lose.

I've heard of another manager allowing their workers to work remotely (because they can) but to come into the office on Mondays and Fridays for meetings. What does that manager understand (or not) about remote working and video meetings? And this is not an elderly manager. It's managers who do not understand current technology and how we should be using it.

It's the people, not the technology.

Charter workers apparently face choice in pandemic: work in the office or resign.
