Namola Panic Tracker for R79pm has its own built-in SIM and GPS for emergency assistance even without your phone in South Africa
By purchasing their Namola Panic Tracker, for R1399 (normal price R2,499 with 12 months subscription), you eliminate the need for your phone. So if your battery has died, data has run out, or your phone is damaged or taken during an incident you can still reach Namola at the push of a button. Their Panic Tracker is fitted with both GPS and GSM capabilities. This means that it tracks you via GPS and communicates with you via the GSM (mobile) network. The device operates like a mobile phone in that Namola's call centre will speak to you and you to them, via the device. Battery life is between 1 to 5 days between charges. The service includes Private Armed Response, as well as Private Ambulance Service through ER24 — the closest available help will be sent to your location.
There is always still the free phone app at no cost - which I've tested and they've called back within seconds, but that will only involves dispatching the police or other standard emergency services.
R79pm is not that bad considering you have something really compact that you can keep on you at all times which won't run out of data, won't require fumbling to unlock a phone and initiate a call-back, you are also able to receive and reply to the control room, and includes dispatch of private ER services. Many other Bluetooth devices require them to be linked to your phone, and many only SMS your friends which does not guarantee any quick response.
