South Africa’s Eskom Preparing First Large-Scale Battery Tender to procure 360 megawatts/1,440 megawatt-hours of storage capacity by 2021

Looks like Eskom is finally taking renewable energy seriously as this is a big step towards readying the grid for reducing coal and increasing renewable energy generation. Either way, it is a benefit to stabilising generation and could allow base loads to run a bit lower as they don't have to provide for shorter peaks in demand.
