Across the UK on 12th April, young people strike for action on climate change

Young people across the UK took to the streets on Friday to demand action to fix the climate change crisis, according to the Guardian. Thousands of young people participated. They marched in cities like London, Cambridge, and Birmingham, according to the UK Student Climate Network.

"This is my future, not yours, that’s why I care ... We’re striking today on our school holiday, which shows that we’re willing to take time off our holiday to protest because it’s such an important cause," Aida Freij, 13, told the Guardian.

It's sad that many older conservative politicians are just not interested / understanding issues around climate (maybe the climate has no lobby fund...) whilst the youth are becoming more and more aware of it and demanding action. Wonder if politicians know that the youth will also be voting in upcoming elections...

I also grew up in an era of plentiful cheap water and electricity, cheap petrol, and where everything was used once and disposed of. That world has passed by and we've learnt a lot more and see a lot more of the damage we've caused. There are better and less wasteful ways of doing things, where reduced air pollution will also result in fewer deaths and chronic allergies.
