How to set up a public electric vehicle charging station - an opportunity for entrepreneurs

It's true that in many neighbourhoods they do not have off-street charging (apartments) but the good news is with electric charging there is usually a power grid already feeding most places and the other good news is it is not as complicated or expensive as setting up a petrol/gas station - anyone could potentially do it like a restaurant, an art gallery, a coffee shop, a bowling alley, or another place where people already congregate. A bonus as to why entrepreneurs may even provide free charging is because in areas where EVs are taking off this could bring in more business for the primary operation (much like many offer free WiFi already).

It's one of the perks specifically for electric battery vehicles because this is nowhere near as easy or "cheap" as for other types of vehicles. It opens "refuelling" to new segments of the market.

"Often, when I talk to business owners about public charging, they're super nervous about a big jump in their energy bills. But at the end of my hour+ of charging as we talked electric mobility, Eric was pleased to show me that I'd added about $0.60 to his overall bill. Assuming that many businesses are offering charging as a perk to bring customers in the door, I'd say that's a pretty negligible cost of getting business. Even at locations like TS Designs, which is less about retail and more about community, it's a tiny fraction of their overall bill."
