Ever wondered what Morse code is actually saying - well you can with a MFJ-461 Morse Code Reader ($90)

Morse code (CW) is still very useful for one good reason that it requires a lot less power, or can penetrate a lot further than normal speaking signals. So when voice and digital fail it is often left up to Morse code to still get the message through. Although it is not difficult to learn it does take some time (2-3 weeks) and patience and many have not made that effort but may be curious to understand what is being discussed or broadcast when they hear Morse code.

So the MFJ-461 is a simple battery operated audio listener (no connections needed) which will help interpret the audio Morse signal and display it in text on a LCD screen. If you are learning Morse code it is also useful to monitor how intelligible your code is when transmitting.

But it does not stop with only readers, you can also buy a MFJ-464 ($199) which is a reader and a built-in keyer. It will accept any PS/2 AT keyboard (but you can probably use a PS/2 to USB adaptor) to program the transmitting with a 190 character type-ahead buffer.
