Tired of social networks shutting down - Host your own easily with Softaculous and Hubzilla
Many cheap Linux based hosting services (around US$10pm) run cPanel with Softaculous as the easy click-to-install script installer. In words if you want to host say a photo sharing site (instead of using Flickr) or a social networking site (like Hubzilla instead of using Facebook) you can just click to Install, sometimes fill in some prompted information, and it installs. It will send you an e-mail with instructions on how to log in as administrator of your new site. You get to set your own rules on how your site will operate and who can use it.
Softaculous has well over 100 different types of web services that can be installed for blogging, photos, family trees, forums, help desks, calendaring, file sharing, e-mail services, polls, ERP, music, news, and way more.
Hubzilla is a pretty fully featured alternative to Facebook that you can run yourself for family and friends. The great thing is it is not hosted in isolation as from there others can follow your posts from Diaspora (Pluspora), Friendica, and others without leaving their social network. Likewise, you can do the same and follow them from your Hubzilla site. If you already have a Hubzilla account you can even import it into your new site.
This is how social media sites should be!! If you don't have your own web service hosting yet just check if a provider has cPanel and Softaclous (that includes Hubzilla or whatever you want to use) as some services only provide a smaller subset of the many Softaculous scripts available.
