Open Source Alfresco ECM Positioned as a Challenger by Gartner for a 3rd Consecutive Year in Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms
Gartner's Magic Quadrants are really difficult for any open source project to get into because one of the qualifying criteria's is a large revenue requirement which is not a focal point of many open source projects. So only those that have a strong commercial offering are ever going to be considered. It stacks the cards a bit unfairly and I've always hoped Gartner could consider other suitable criteria like KPIs around sites or active installations or something (same reason why open source projects don't often win government tenders). So its good to see Alfresco featuring here and its community edition is still free to use.
