'Foundations of Amateur Radio' - a podcast that covers a lot of basics for noobies to amateur radio

Starting in the wonderful hobby of Amateur or HAM Radio can be daunting and challenging but can be very rewarding. Every week Onno (VK6FLAB) looks at a different aspect of the hobby, how you might fit in and get the very best from the 1000 hobbies that Amateur Radio represents. Note that this podcast started in 2011 as "What use is an F-call?".

I like the way that really basic concepts are described during this series. Topics like the following are discussed:
- Everything you know about dipole (calculators) is wrong ...
- Antenna Polarisation and you
- How to start your own net ...
- Which repeaters should I put into my handheld radio?
- The Internet of Digital Radio
- Which antenna should I get first?
- Mechanical Filters
- Coax Loss vs Connector Loss - now with more coax
- What do you know now that you would have liked to have known when you started in amateur radio?
- An Amateur Radio Code of Conduct
- Sun-Spots and Amateur Radio
- How does Single Side Band work?
- And much more.

The nice thing is all these podcasts are around 4 minutes long. You can find the full list of audio podcasts (sound clips) at http://podcasts.itmaze.com.au/foundations/ but your favourite podcast software should also list this series if you search for it.
