The Untold Story of NotPetya, the Most Devastating Cyberattack in History... and how a power outage in Ghana saved Maersk
Goes to show yet again how vulnerable organisations and governments have become in a connected world. The more connected and online the world goes, the more vulnerable it becomes. A serious backup strategy needs to be in place, and not one which just replicates the problems in realtime elsewhere. A backup must include pushes to offline storage. It is better to lose a day or two days of data than everything.
Another very interesting book I recently read was called The Perfect Weapon by David E. Sanger which also goes into detail on how real cyberwar has become and how it touches actual lives and infrastructure. See https://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Weapon-Sabotage-Fear-Cyber-ebook/dp/B076Z29HG7/.
