Nokia 1 – Powered by Android 8.1 Go - Always up to date OS for US$85 (R985)
HMD Global has unveiled the Nokia 1, a new low-cost Android smartphone which runs Android 8.1 Go. Android Go ships with a rebuilt set of Google’s popular apps and a version of Google Play that highlights apps designed to work best on smartphones with 1GB or less of RAM.
It's low cost, has the latest Android OS in the lightweight GO edition (which means less storage and data used, and will run faster on a low end phone). Most important though is it will always be up to date which has been a major shortcoming on cheaper phones in the past. The Rands price would still adjust up for taxes and VAT though.
