Mobile data in South Africa will not just expire and must roll over – ICASA

ICASA plans to change the End-user and Subscriber Service Charter Regulations with aggressive mobile data regulations. Those interested in commenting on the proposed regulations have 30 days to do so from 7 August 2017.

It's good news for subscribers as these are the unfair issues they have been complaining about for ages. But is it good news? Be careful if what you ask for is what you get.... These operators likely oversell those caps as they know many subscribers don't use it all. So now if they have to provision one-to-one they may actually charge us more. I'm just guessing here but on the other hand, it does appear we are paying more than other countries regardless. Either way it is good it is being tackled and debated now.
