Why Does Every Car Infotainment System Look So Crappy? User interface design is hard, but we’ve been getting better at it over the years to the point where even a thermostat is easy to use. Automakers, however, seem to have their heads in the sand, taking their design inspiration for their infotainment consoles from old Winamp skins instead of any type of modern interface. And of course every make has a different standard so compatibility with your phone is a never ending battle. I'v given up using them and just look for good Bluetooth compatibility as I mount my phone as my entertainment, navigation, etc device. At least my phone has up to date and full powered apps running.
