Why South Africans use international online shops Online shopping is on the rise in South Africa, with many local buyers purchasing goods from retailers at home and abroad. 43% of the surveyed shoppers said they have used an international website in the past year to purchase items. The top reasons for this were: * USA market – Accessing items not available in home market. * China market – Better prices. * UK market – Accessing items not available in home market. Yes the local selection and availability is pretty pathetic when it comes to well known international gadget as well as wet shaving products. I don't mind paying more locally because I miss out on the major hassles and delays at customs but try finding any local Qualcomm v3 chargers, or a Merkur 34C razor, a Fitbit Blaze stainless steel band, a Google Pixel phone, the newer Kobo eBook reader, and the list just goes on. Re-shipping is horrifically expensive but if you can find an international site that ships direct to SA it is often quite reasonable and arrives at SA within a few days. See http://bit.ly/2lADP5W
