Could VW Diesels from the USA get dumped in South Africa? Judging from the fact many TDis were withdrawn from use in the USA because they did not meet regulatory requirements (see http://ift.tt/2ja7X3c), and the fact that from the statement made by VW SA that they would meet regulatory requirements in SA (see http://ift.tt/2jod96R), I'm wondering if those cars won't just be shipped out to 3rd world countruies and sold off cheaply? Its a warning to us too that without tightening down on our pollution regulations for vehicles, we could also sit in the same position as other cities elsewhere in the world with chronic pollution problems. If we think that trucks in Europe emit less pollutants than cars.... then how much worse are our regulations in SA?
