Savonius Vertical Axis Wind Turbine - Innovative Wind Turbine Design from Iceland A problem for many "traditional" horizontal blade turbines is too much wind. So this Icelandic innovation by a company called Icewind takes it in a different direction, by building a new type of funky wind turbine designed to perform well in low-wind conditions but also to slow itself down in high-winds, preventing it from catching on fire or ripping apart.
