The 5 Best-Selling Wearable Device Brands of 2016 -- The Motley Fool

The 5 Best-Selling Wearable Device Brands of 2016 The wearables market isn't growing as analysts originally anticipated. Last quarter (Q4), unit sales across the entire market grew just 3% year over year, according to IDC. That's quite a slowdown from the first quarter of the year, when wearable unit sales increased 67%. The future seems to be looking more at fitness wearables going forward, and it is always wise to look at what is already selling well, as there is a good chance they will still be supported in the coming two years. The pity is that as it is not a mature market, the devices will still keep improving and updating so no purchase in this segment should be seen as a long term one (which also means you should not invest heavily into such a purchase). The focus seems to be on fitness tracking, notifications and watchfaces right now. Battery life in some devices is still dismal though. See http://ift.tt/2iJMum7
