How Trolls Are Ruining the Internet

How Trolls Are Ruining the Internet An interesting insight below into these Trolls. The thing to remember with Trolls is that they usually don't hate a specific person, they're just generally into the hate game itself. Where they get a reaction, they zoom in for the kill, sometimes literally as it can potentially drive some people to suicide. The other thing to remember with Trolls is that many don't identify themselves a Trolls, they sometimes don't realise their behaviour is actually Trollish. Direct hate is easy to identify and ban (especially on Google+) but the baiting questions or statements that are calculated to upset everyone in a comment thread can be a bit difficult to distinguish sometimes. You want to give clueless people (or those wanting to learn something) the benefit of the doubt. And I love nothing better than a good debate, unless it becomes personal. So my philosophy is once someone is clearly seen as a Troll or is upsetting everyone else for the sake of it, then I do a permanent ban of them from all my posts. Better for them and for everyone else - you just go your own way. Disagreement is always a healthy and good thing, as much can be learnt by both sides, but disagreement for the sake of it without real reason is counter-productive. So we'll all encounter Trolls on the Internet, and it is a good thing as well, because you don't want to shut yourself away and never hear other opinions or views, just be wary and able to realise where a line gets drawn. I'll keep the comments open on this post for now, but it may attract the Trolls like bees to honey, so if it gets out of hand I'll close the comments, or swat a few Trolls. Personally.... I never feel anger, only sorrow for them, and for those who they do manage to affect. Read the full article at http://ift.tt/2gazlxq
