Google’s new Pixel smartphone not coming to South Africa (yet) – Here’s why Cellucity recently informed customers it won’t bring the Google Pixel into South Africa. “Google will not be launching the Google Pixel in South Africa, or any country that does not have Google Assistant active,” Cellucity told clients. This follows pre-orders for the device going live earlier in the year. Usually this wouldn’t stop the sales process, but, in this case, Google is not able to supply the company with European Compliance certificates, said Cellucity. “Without this, there is no way to get ICASA approval for these devices.” “Rest assured, we have not given up, but until we get the relevant compliance certificates from Google, and ICASA approval, we will not be able to offer the Google Pixel range of phones.” Extremely odd as other phones don't have it active? And I'm pretty sure it is Google Assistant which is active on my Nexus 6P with Android Auto running. See http://ift.tt/2grrz2f
