New Victron MultiPlus 12/1200 Inverter/Charger fitted yesterday The electrician came and fitted this new inverter/charger yesterday. This is what it is supposed to do: 1. Act as a backup for the batteries so that if the batteries are going flat, it will switch over within 200ms to the grid power (if it is available). 2. On days when there is low PV yield, or the power draw is high, it should supplement by providing some power from the grid. 3. When the solar PV yield is too low to charge the batteries during the day, it will use grid power to charge them fully. 4. If grid power is being used and there is a grid outage, it will switch to batteries or solar. 5. It optimises power usage by giving preference to using all available solar PV power during the day. I also had two extra power plugs fitted onto the sub-DB now, so that my main computer is also running off this system (I already have all the internal and external lights, lounge TV, Internet connection and Wifi, and pond pump running off it. Now it all stays on 24/7 as this new device will switch automatically to the best source of power. The only problem right now is that the device should be giving preference to using PV power during the day, and it does not appear to be doing this. It may be a programming error that I need to check with the supplier on Monday. #victronenergy #solarpower
