Facebook malware infects 10,000 people using Windows desktop OS in 48 hours Kaspersky Lab has released a report of a malware that spread to over 10,000 users in just 48 hours. The malware first compromised the Chrome browser with a malicious extension. This extension could hijack a Facebook account, and send a fake notification to friends. Users would see a pop up on their screens that said that a friend had mentioned them in a comment. Clicking on the notification, would install the chrome extension on the victim’s computer, and then the process would repeat itself. The report tracks the trojan from 24 June to 27 June. The malware was most active in Brazil. South America, Europe, Tunisia and Israel were heavily affected by the Trojan. The malware affects only those using Microsoft Windows operating systems, and mostly on desktops. See http://ift.tt/29phFdS
